What we collect
You do not need an account to read anything here, and we never ask for personal details to view a guide. Like nearly every website, our hosting provider keeps standard server logs that can include your IP address, browser type, and the pages you request. Those logs exist to keep the site secure and online. We do not use them to identify you.
Cookies
Our pages are delivered through a content network (Cloudflare) that may set a few functional cookies to keep the site fast and protected from abuse. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not track you across other websites. If we add analytics later, we will choose a privacy-respecting option and update this page.
The weekly email
If you sign up for our weekly preparedness note, we use your address only to send you that email. We do not sell it, rent it, or hand it to anyone, and you can unsubscribe from any message.
Other companies that touch your data
The site runs on ordinary web infrastructure: a hosting company and a content delivery network. They process technical data like IP addresses for the sole purpose of serving the site to you. We do not sell or share your personal information for marketing.
Links to other sites
Our guides point to outside resources such as Ready.gov, the ASPCA, and the American Red Cross. Once you follow a link off this site, that organization’s privacy practices apply instead of ours.
Children
This site is written for adults planning for their households. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
